Baby steps, babe-y. I don't make New Year resolutions. BUT 2017 was a fairly eye opening year. It certainly tested my strength to its very limits. SO, yeah, baby steps. I resolve to take baby steps to bigger steps in 2018. The first step I actually put in motion way WAY back in 2017. I was having one of those long stretched out epic movie moments where the antagonist (or leading lady, as the case may be) is literally standing at crossroads and just can't figure out which road to take. It was a HUGE decision AND I seemed to face A LOT of those in 2017. Sigh. Anyhow, that step. I decided to go back to Art School. When I graduated in 2000, OCAD was just OCAD, a college of art and design, fresh from becoming OCA, a College of Art and OCAD no longer OCA became a University, OCADU, just shortly after I graduated. SO, long story of acronyms short, I graduated with an Associate degree, which means I lack (academic) credits to qualify for my BFA. 2.5 credits to be exact. Which translates to roughly 5 classes. SO. To validate the relevance of my four year forty odd thousand dollar education I'm going back. 5 credits! Pssssh.
Sucks to be me, right.
Still, going back to OCAD now OCADU will be good for me. I need this. Change. Moving forward s**t. I will be immersing myself into all that creative energy. Cool artsy cats making cool art. Toronto. TORONTO! It's exciting (and a little scary), Right!? AND I'll be doing it part time, so it will be a good balance with all the other (not as exciting) stuff I have to deal with on a daily basis. When I originally attended OCAD from 1996 to 2000 I worked in the library for my last two years, as a Student Page. I got to shelf books, and what not (cough~read art books~cough). AND, I loved it! Hence, the fact I have now been the Branch Supervisor of a small library for twelve years. So, I sort of get to relive those days of being all artsy and literate and just plain awesome-r for a little while. Mind you, I don't get to take any fun classes where I actually get to make art. NOT REALLY. Plus I'll probably be the oldest student there. BUT. Meh. It's all good.
Now (takes breath) I just have to pretend I'm all smart and fancy with big words and LEARN about "art" whilst writing learn-ED research papers about the conceptual manifestation of mundane madness in a postmodern primordial persumptious pathological society. My brain is going to fck'n hate me for doing this.
Steps, I say.
P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR, to new beginnings and shXt.
Did you hear that sigh? The "girl" in these pictures is a-changing. ;)
DRESS: Ricki's generally has some cute dresses. I just bought the one in the link. ❤️
CARDIGAN AND TIGHTS: Probably, most likely, Old Navy BUT I'm getting old and can't remember what I did yesterday. SHEESH.
RIBBON: Me being artsy (and not the least bit literate) on Christmas Day.
